On the way to my grandmothers house, I decided to stop in and bring my fiance dessert for lunch. When I walked into the office it seemed empty, his secretary was not at her desk, everything was quiet. Just as I turned to leave, I heard some mumbling coming from behind the door to his office, which was ajar. I slowly walked over, sensing something was not right. I got to the door, but did not go in. I stood there, listening, not believeing what I was hearing. I heard clothes rustling, the sound of kissing, the sound of a zipper being pulled down and my fiance’s moan. I ran from the building in tears. So this is why he had been coming home late the last couple of weeks. “Extra work to do” he told me. Hmph extra work my ass.
I arrived at my grans house 20 minutes later. I tried to hide the fact that I was upset and had been crying. But she knew the second I entered the door that something was wrong. So I sat down in her kitchen as she made me some tea and told her all about what happened at the office.
Now my gran is a spry little lady. She is an archeologist who has traveled all over the globe. She has been places most have never heard of and proably never will. She speaks many languges, she has lived deep in the jungle with unknown tribes. She has befriended medicine men. In a hidden room in her old victorian house, she has treasures from her many travels. She has things all over her house from all the places she has been and seen. But this room is different. And only I know about it.
As I told my story and drank my tea, my gran sat quietly listening. When I had finished, she told me to follow her. She led me into the secret room at the back of the house. It appeared to be a simple broom closet. But if you pushed on the right side of the back wall, a door opened up. Inside was a small room with a table and many shelves. These shelves were lined mostly with jars of dried herbs, roots and such. There were also things like shrunken heads, oddly shaped bones and even a voodoo doll or two.
My gran sat me down at the table. She walked over and retreived a blu jar and a small box. She opened the jar and a small puff of smoke emitted from the lid, along with the scent of, what I could swear was, the scent of a freshly diapered baby. She took a few spoonfuls of the powder inside and placed it in the box. She handed the box over to me with some specific instructions and described what was going to happen. She told me I should go home, act as if I had seen nothing and go to bed. She said that by morning I would know if this is what I really wanted to do.
On my way home, I felt like I was in some weird dream or some lame t.v. movie. I couldn’t quite believe what gran had told me, but I knew it was true. I had seen her do odd things before with the potions that came from that room. When I got home, I hide the box in my closet.
Sebastian came home from the office, late as usual. I told him I had a headache and was going to bed early, to warm up some leftovers. That night I tossed and turned. I had strange dreams. Many of them concerning babies. And in the morning I knew what had to be done, and I was ready. I got up, took a shower and got ready. If Sebastian noticed that I was quieter than usual, he didn’t let on. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek then left. I finished getting dressed. I had alot to do before tonight.
I spent the whole day shopping and preparing for tonight, all on Sebastians credit card of course. I went home and got everything set up that I could, the rest will have to wait til tomorrow. I picked up the phone and dialed Sebastians cell. He picked up, he semmed out of breath. Was he with her right now? I asked him what he was doing, he stammered and said he did not have time to talk, that he was really busy. I told him I was on my down to the office. I did not give him the chance to protest before I hung up. He tried my cell several times as I was driving over but I did not pick up. I was not giving him the chance to blow me off.
I got the office and grabbed the thermos. I went inside, his secretary was sitting primly at her desk, giving me the evil eye. I looked directly at her and laughed. She was stunned but said nothing. I walked straight into his office. His shirt was disheveled. He tried to protest my being there, saying he was too busy to take a break. I insisted and he knew he had no choice. I told him my gran had made some tea for him. A special concoction she brewed up for stress relief. He seemed annoyed but he drank the glass that I poured for him.
I stood, watching, waiting. It did not take long. He looked up at me, his eyes glazed. He tried to get up from his chair and sat back down. “What in the hell was in that tea” he said. I told him not to worry, that everything would be alright very soon. He started to sweat, I helped him out of his chair and onto the couch. Before my very eyes, he started to shrink. He, apparently did not notice this. His eyes were closed. When he stopped shrinking, he was about the size of a two year toodler. Gran said from here to be careful, only give him small amounts til he reached the size I desired.
Before I reached the desk to pour some more of the concoction, his eyes flew open. “What the hell is going on here!”. “Shhh, just lay back and close your eyes, you will be fine” I told him. He insisted something wasn’t right. He didn’t know what it was, he said his eyesight must be off or something. I told him to just close his eyes and take a rest. I quietly stepped outside and told that tramp secretary of his that he said he would not need her anymore tonight. She tried to get past me to talk to him but I blocked the door and told her he wanted some privacy. At the look on my face she knew I was dead serious. So she got her things and headed for the door. She turned and started to protest but I cut her off and told her goodnight.
I stepped back inside. Sebastian was trying to sit up. I gently forced him to lay back down, then I quickly poured more ‘tea’ and brought it up to his lips. He tried to struggle but I got some in him before he could pull away. He started to shrink again. Now he was the size of a 9 month old baby. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go smaller or not yet. I would get him home then decide.
He looked up at me with tears in his eyes. “What are you doing to me?” he asked. I picked him up and he struggled but it was no use. I laughed heartily as he got a glimpse of himself in the mirror. “What have you done?” he whispered in disbelief. “I know all about you and her, I jerked my head in the direction of his secretarys desk. He stammered and said he could explain, I laughed again. “No need dear, I came up with the perfect solution for us”
